Change the formatting of bullets or list numbers

To change the formatting of bullets or numbers in a list, click any bullet or number to select all of the bullets or numbers in the list. As you highlight the text, the formatting of the text and the bullets or numbering changes.

Select a new bullet or numbering format

  1. Click a bullet or number in the list that you want to change.

    In a multilevel list, you can change the formatting one level at a time by clicking a bullet or number in the list at that level.

  2. click on the Home tab under paragraphon the arrow next to it bullet point or Numbering.

  3. In the bullet or numbering library, click the bullet or numbering list format.

Define a new bullet, font, or picture

Bullets displayed in the Bullet Library are a subset of the Word font libraries. This means that you can choose a different character for your bullet points. For example, you can change your bullet points to arrows or even a euro or dollar sign. You can also use an image found either on the internet or on your computer.

  1. Click a bullet in a list to select all the bullets.

  2. Click the down arrow next to the bullet icon. .

  3. At the bottom of the pop-up area, click Define a new bullet.

  4. Go to the New section bullet point define as follows:

    • Click to change or add a characterYou on Symbol. Select a character from the symbol library and click OK.

      If you want to change the font attributes after selecting a new character, click font. Change the style, size, and font, and then click OK.

    • To add an image, click Image. In the Insert Pictures window, click either Out a file for pictures on your computer, or on Bing image search, to find a picture online.

      Select the picture you want to use on your computer, or choose a Bing search, then click to open or Insert.

  5. If your new bullets previewed fine look,click on OK.

Change the font style, color, or size for bullets or numbers in a list

Fonts, colors, and sizes of bullets and numbers are all controlled by the font attributes. You can change the text formatting of bullets or numbers in a list without making any changes to the text in the list. For example, you can format numbers or bullets with a different font color than the text in the list.

  1. Click a bullet or number in a list.

    Any bullets or numbers in the list are selected.

  2. Take on the Home tab in the group font the changes you want.

    For example, click the arrow next to Font color, and then click the color you want.

Change the level of an enumerated or numbered item in my list

You can easily change the level of a list item.

  1. Click the bullet or number that was moved out of position.

  2. click on the Home tab under paragraphon the arrow next to it bullet point or Numbering.

  3. Show it change at list level,and then click the level you want.

Converting bullets to numbers or vice versa in a list

  1. Click a bullet or number in the list that you want to change.

    By clicking a bullet or number in an automatically recognized bulleted or numbered list, you select the entire list.

  2. Click the tab begin in the group paragraph on bullet point or on numbering.

    To change the list back, click either on bullet point or on numbering .

Converting bullets to numbers or vice versa in a multilevel list

In a multilevel list, the list items are displayed on multiple levels rather than on one level.

  1. At the level you want to change, click a bullet or number in the list.

    By clicking a bullet or number in an automatically recognized bulleted or numbered list, you select all of the list items that are at that particular level.

    To convert the entire multilevel list to bullets or numbers, select the entire list.

  2. Click the tab begin in the group paragraph on bullet point or on numbering.

    To change the list back, click on bullet point or numbering .
