What does it mean to simplify life

8 tips to make life easier

Life doesn't have to be complicated. Simplicity brings balance, freedom and joy. If we start to live life simply, we gain more time in everyday life, can concentrate on the essentials and avoid unnecessary stressful situations. We gain more time for the people and things we love.

Living life more simply means getting rid of clutter, leaving only what is of value to you. Living life simply is not always an easy process, however. It's a journey, not a destination.

There are simple ways to make life easier and start a happier and more balanced lifestyle.

The 2 important principles for a simple life are:

  1. Identify what is most important to you.
  2. Eliminate everything else.

These 2 principles can be applied to different areas of life:

Write down the 5 most important things in your life

When we identify what is most important to our life, we can consciously focus on these things and make time for them.

Weight your commitments

Which obligations determine our everyday life? How much are they worth to us? Are these commitments one of the top 5 things in our life? When we balance our daily commitments with the 5 most important things in our life, we can cut out unnecessary commitments in everyday life and better focus on our goal.

Weight your time

What do we spend our time with every day? What do we do with the time between waking up and going to sleep? Does what we do every day fit in with our priorities? If not, the unnecessary things should be removed in order to focus on the essentials.

Simplify your tasks

A never-ending to-do list can make life difficult. It gets longer with every new day. If we try to complete all of the tasks on our to-do list, we will never have done everything. And worse, the most important things are being postponed. By focusing on the essentials and eliminating the rest, we can accomplish the most important things in our life and make our lives easier.

Say "No" kindly

This is one of the most important habits to make your life easier. Everything in life has its time. If we sacrifice our time for others, less remains for us.

Reduce your communication

A great flow of communication fills life. If we allow it, emails, messages, cell phones, phone calls, Skype, Twitter, forums and much more can take up all day. In order to simplify one's life and take time for the important things, it helps to limit daily communication: For example, communication only by e-mail, communication only at certain times of the day or a certain number of minutes per day.

Reduce your media consumption

Life can be dominated by television, the Internet, magazines, and radio. It takes up a lot of our time and often takes up time for the important things in life. By limiting our media consumption, we have more time for the essentials.

Live in the present

When we live life in the here and now, enjoy this moment, we become more aware of our life. We can determine life in the present, do our best in the present moment, and focus on what is really important in our life in that moment.

By identifying what is most important to our life and removing everything else, we can simplify our lives, get rid of clutter and spend our time with the people and things we love.
