What is the best beach in Phuket
Insider tip: Phuket's lonely beaches
When thinking of Phuket, most travelers think of package tourism and crowded beaches. And of course this picture also applies to parts of the island. But there are still beautiful bays that hardly anyone knows.

Above all, Patong Beach is a prime example of a mass tourism place. The beach there is accordingly overcrowded. The same applies to former insider tips, such as Nai Harn Beach or Laem Singh Beach and Paradise Beach. But even on Phuket there are still places away from the crowds. Including some beaches, three of which Sebastian Prestele from the Phuketastic blog will introduce to you in this guest article.
Accommodation tip for your stay on Phuket: Well-equipped holiday apartments are the Kamala Beachfront Apartments. These are located on the beautiful Kamala Beach. The complex has a pool with a view of the sea. Very popular with families! Here you can find the offer on Booking.com and here on Agoda. You can find more hotel tips in different price ranges at the end of the article.
Phuket: quiet beaches
Here is a selection:
Mai Khao Beach
Phuket's longest beach is also one of the quietest on the island. The beach is also listed in the blog parade of the most beautiful beaches in Southeast Asia.
Mai Khao Beach is 11km long and is located in the far north of Phuket. It starts a little north of the airport and stretches the entire coast to the northwest end of Phuket. There it goes into the even quieter Sai Kaew Beach.
So far, the area around Mai Khao Beach has hardly been developed. So far there are only a few 5 star hotels near the beach. It is accordingly quiet on the beach.
At the southern end of Mai Khao Beach there is the option of walking up to a few meters away from the airport runway. Depending on the time of year, aircraft taking off or landing can be observed and photographed at close range.

Location and directions:
In the very north of Phuket, north of the airport
With your own vehicle:
Always drive north towards the mainland. After the airport, look out for the signs to the hotels: JW Marriott, SALA Phuket, Anantara and Renaissance Phuket and the Turtle Village. Then follow the road to the sea.
Parking is possible right on the beach.
With public transport:
It is possible to take the Songthaew (local bus) from Phuket Town to the main road about 1.5km from the beach. Cost about 60 baht. To do this, climb a Songthaew at the local bus station on Ranong Road in Phuket Town that goes to Sarasin Bridge. The disembarkation point is after the airport at the signs to the above-mentioned hotels. Journey time about 90 minutes
A fantastic sandy beach, far away from mass tourism, in a bay lined with palm trees. This is - when the sun is shining and especially at low tide - an absolute picture-perfect beach, excellent for swimming and snorkeling.
The beach is not completely lonely and there are some sun loungers in the front area and also a small restaurant that sells good food and drinks. But the entire rear part of the beach is free of loungers and there is enough space to spread out the towel or the beach mat.
An ideal place for a quiet day at the beach and snorkeling, where you quickly forget that you are on Thailand's most visited island.

Location and directions
Finding the beach is not easy and you must have your own vehicle. It is best to drive to the T-junction just before the airport. There you turn left (right goes to the airport) and follow the road to Naithon Beach (which is also not to be sniffed at!), Past the Andaman White Beach Resort. A few curves further a small sign indicates the beach, sometimes - especially on weekends - there are also a few mopeds and cars on the road and show the way. Park at the top of the street and walk down the slope. The beach can then already be seen from above.

Laem Ka Beach
The most beautiful beaches on Phuket can all be found on the west coast. The east side, on the other hand, has very few beautiful beaches to offer. One of them is Laem Ka Beach in Rawai, in the southern part of the island. Difficult to discover, it is mainly known to locals and very little visited except on weekends.
The beach is lined with some large rocks and offers great views over Chalong Bay and some offshore islands such as Koh Lon and Koh Bon. This is a very beautiful place, especially in the morning, as the sunrise can be observed from here.
Swimming is possible even if the water is relatively shallow, especially at low tide. Snorkeling around the numerous rocks is very nice and there is a lot of marine life to discover.
Location and directions:
The beach is located in the very southeast of Phuket near Rawai Beach.
With your own vehicle:
From Chalong towards Rawai, past the Sea Shell Museum. At the next 7Eleven on the left is the small access road. Follow this, at the end keep right and you will find the parking lot.
With public transport:
From Phuket Town take the local bus (Songthaew) to Rawai for 20 Baht or get on on the way. Then get off at the already mentioned 7Eleven and walk to the beach. The walking distance is about 1.5 km.
