Where can I get avocado in India

Countries of origin - which fruit comes from where?

Middle and South America

Central America and the Caribbean islands are the original home of the papaya. The pear-shaped fruits with the orange pulp contain vitamins A and C as well as the enzyme papain. Papain breaks down proteins and has a digestive effect.

The also comes from Central America avocado. In their homeland, the green fruit with the soft pulp and the large core was already grown 8000 years ago.

The pineapple is a native of Brazil. Vitamins, minerals and the protein-splitting enzyme bromelain do this pineapple so healthy. Surprisingly: Most of the bromelain is in the stalk, which many simply throw away.

If the pineapple is one of the exotic heavyweights, then this is it Cape gooseberry or Physalis rather a tiny thing: the roughly cherry-sized orange-yellow berries, which are enclosed in a paper-like calyx, originally come from the Andean region in Peru and Chile.

Unlike papaya, avocado or pineapple you can find them Cherimoya hardly in German shops. It comes from Ecuador and Peru and was already on the menu of the Incas.

Cherimoyas are strawberry-shaped, can grow up to 20 centimeters and have a greenish or brownish skin, a creamy pulp and a creamy taste.

Also the Pitahaya is rarely seen in this country. The fist-sized fruit from South America has a yellowish or reddish colored skin with scale-like outgrowths. It is also called dragon fruit and is related to the prickly pear.

The flesh is whitish-pink and full of seeds, which you can eat with you without any problems.

Persia, India, China

Citrus fruits are now grown in many parts of the world, but it was originally from orange from China and the lemon from India. So the lemon is the neighbor of the mangothat was grown in India and Burma more than 4000 years ago.

The mango is also called the "apple of the tropics". The dark yellow flesh is very juicy and is difficult to separate from the large core towards the middle. It is very rich in vitamins, stimulates appetite and digestion.

Persia is the home of the Pomegranate, which can easily be recognized by its characteristic interior: the fruit is divided into several chambers in which the grain-shaped seeds are located.

Each of these kernels is surrounded by crunchy red pulp. The ancient Egyptians worshiped the pomegranate as a sacred fruit.

Southeast Asia and Australia

Healthy, tasty and easy to enjoy - the banana is one of the most popular fruits in Germany. It originally comes from India, the Malay Archipelago, New Guinea, Australia and Samoa (not shown on the map).

The Kiwano is a species of melon from New Zealand. It is also called horn melon because of the horn-like spines on its skin. Kiwanos grow up to 14 centimeters long. Most of the time the fruits are used for decoration. The taste of the jelly-like pulp is not very intense.

From Malaysia the Rambutan, the Mangosteen and the Salakwhich is also at home in Indonesia and Bali.

The round, a good five centimeters tall Rambutan is a relative of the lychee, which can often be found here too. Its shell is covered with soft spines. Inside is the white-yellowish juicy pulp around the core.

It is largely unknown to us Mangosteen, one of the tastiest exotic fruits. Under the hard skin of the nine-centimeter-long fruit is the delicate white flesh, which is divided into several segments and is reminiscent of garlic cloves - but only visually and not in terms of taste.

The Salak Also called "snake skin fruit" because of its scaled skin. It will be a good eight centimeters tall. The thin skin surrounds the firm, beige-colored pulp, the taste of which is unique - and takes some getting used to for local palates.
