SKL - millionaire game

Munich (ots)

Around three quarters of Germans would change their diet sustainably if they won millions

How does life change when you become a millionaire overnight? Will everything then revolve around luxury travel, fast cars and expensive handbags? The SKL Lottery and the market research company YouGov wanted to know how everyday things change when people suddenly get rich - for example diet. Result of the representative survey: A good three quarters of the respondents would change their eating habits significantly if money no longer played a role. The focus is not on classic luxury products such as lobster & Co., but on fresh and regionally produced food. The next opportunity to win a "sustainable" million dollar prize is already on December 1, 2019, with the start of the 146th SKL lottery.

Good food is becoming more and more important to Germans. But if you think of private chefs, unusual forms of food such as paleo or veganism and champagne when you win millions, the respondents in a representative YouGov survey (1) on behalf of the SKL Lottery surprise with high-quality and sustainable approaches. Around three quarters of those surveyed stated that if they won millions, they wanted to change their eating habits. 30% of the respondents said they would cook freshly at home more often and only 14% would buy more specialties such as wines or delicacies. Increased visits to restaurants and high-quality food from higher price ranges are also among the wishes of Germans for a million dollar profit.

Fresh family meals more popular than delivery services

Contrary to many clichés, only 16% of the 18-24 year old respondents want to have food delivered to their home more often when they win millions. Instead, 41% of the "young generation" would pay more attention to products from higher price ranges and buy organic, fair trade or super foods. Older respondents between 35 and 54 years of age decided to cook freshly more often (36%). Family size also plays a role. The higher the number of children in the respondents' families, the more often they decided to cook fresh more often in everyday life. Quality triumphs over convenience here.

Men let themselves be cooked for, women like to cook fresh

With 33%, increased restaurant visits in the survey are the Germans' favorite after winning millions. In particular, around 34% of men would prefer to eat out in restaurants more often. In comparison, women only go to a restaurant in second place. More important to them are products from the sustainable, higher-priced range, for example regional and organic products with Fairtrade certification. Fresh cooking is also particularly important to them with 31%.

This is how lucky lottery gets a chance

If you become a millionaire overnight, you can do a lot for your diet. And whoever decides on a ticket for the SKL million game by December 1st has the chance of over 2 million individual prizes of up to 16 million euros for six months.
