Which Swedish newspapers do you follow

Anders Tegnell speaks a lot about trust and voluntariness. Sweden's social democratic prime minister Stefan Löfven and his red-green minority government follow the recommendations of the state epidemologist unreservedly: shops, churches, fitness studios and hairdressers are open. Schools up to the 9th grade as well. Restaurants too, if they adhere to the rules of distance and serve them at the table.

"You see yourself as an island of freedom and common sense in Europe," is how SZ Scandinavia correspondent Kai Strittmatter describes the mood in Stockholm. The Swedish strategy is based on the assumption that the virus cannot be defeated, only managed. As long as there is no vaccine or herd immunity, you have to live with it. With drastic restrictions, however, no society can live longer than a few weeks. The psychological and economic follow-up costs would be too high. Ultimately, however, the outcome of the experiment with all its follow-up costs and deaths could only be assessed in several years.
